North Bend remained unbeaten in prep softball with a 3-2 win over visiting Cottage Grove Saturday. The No. 5 Bulldogs are now 4-0 and play at Coquille on Tuesday, March 31.

Three RBI doubles in a row sparked Marshfield to a come-from-behind prep softball win over previously unbeaten Cottage Grove Saturday in Coos Bay. The No. 7 Lady Pirates won 5-4 after trailing 4-2 to the Lions. Katelyn Rossback, Sara Allison and Khalani Hoyer each drove in runs in the bottom of the fifth that propelled Marshfield to the win. Katie Sharp picked up the win. The sophomore struck out three, scattered six hits, and walked two in going the distance. The Lady Pirates (4-5) had six hits with Hoyer going two-for-three at the plate and scored a run. Cottage Grove dropped from No. 8 to No. 25 in the OSAA 4A Power Rankings after being swept in the Bay Area. Marshfield plays at Coquille on Thursday, April 2, 4:30 p.m.

Phoenix swept a pair of non-league prep baseball games from Marshfield Saturday in Southern Oregon. The host Pirates won the first game 10-8 and then took the second game 11-1 in five innings. The Pirates fall to 3-7, and will open Far West League play Tuesday, April 14, at Brookings-Harbor (2-4).

North Bend improved to 4-1 for the 2015 prep baseball season following a 4-1 win over 6A Willamette Saturday in Eugene at the University of Oregon’s PK Park. The No. 12 Bulldogs will next play Thursday, April 2, at home with Junction City (3-4).
