6-8th Pirate XC Meet Report – Bullard’s Beach Invitational 3.2k
Report from Coach Steve Delgado. Warm, muggy weather greeted the team yesterday at Bullard’s Beach as the Pirates took on most of the Far West League in our second meet of the season. The course is an annual favorite. Flatter than the North Bend course it features one 100m hill the runners tackle twice, 200m of sand and a half dozen obstacles from hay bales to logs over the course. The course measures 3200m instead of 3000m thereby extending the race times to cover the extra distance. As of this writing we are still awaiting the results posting by the host team Bandon. It looks like a day of many PRs for our team members who have run the course in previous years. On the girls side Kaylee Delzotti (7th – Millicoma) came from behind in the final 50m to take the overall win in around 13:30. The boys squad dominated with our top 5 going 1, 2, 3, 4, and 11 for a team score of 21. Jeremy Roe (8th- MHS) took the overall win followed by fellow 8th grade teammates Gabe Delgado and Aiden Leahy-Crooks. Zach Holt (6th – Millicoma) was 4th overall and first year runner Cameron Nye (8th – MHS) battled for 11th to round out the top 5 scorers. Many of the team will compete in either the Prefontaine 10k on Saturday or the Kid’s Pre 5k on Sunday this weekend. We will be back in Far West League action next Tuesday at Cape Blanco then travel north on Saturday to the Siuslaw hosted Woahink Invitational.
