The Oregon volleyball team defeated a team of alumni 3-1 in its second and final exhibition, Saturday, 25-11, 25-22, 20-25, 25-17. Oregon will open the season against Ohio State Friday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. as part of the Oregon Invitational. The match will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks.

The Oregon State volleyball team took the court for the annual Orange & Black scrimmage Friday evening. The match featured eight newcomers to the team donning the orange and black for the first time. The Orange squad took the first set but the Black team came back to take the next two for the 2-1 win. The Beavers also played a fourth set with the first team taking on the second team, with the first team winning 25-23. The Beavers will start the 2014 season in Logan, Utah against the Gaels of Saint Mary’s Friday Aug. 29 at 3 p.m. PT. They’ll face host Utah State and Idaho State Saturday, Aug. 30 at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. PT respectively. Live stats will be available for all three games while the game against Utah State will also be available online through live stream.

Nine OSU Gymnasts Earn Scholastic All-America Honors
Nine Oregon State gymnasts were named Scholastic All-Americans by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) announced. Oregon State’s 2014 Scholastic All-Americans include juniors Taylor Keeker, Katelyn Ohlrich and Chelsea Tang along with sophomore Jaime Wright and freshmen Madeline Gardiner, Kana Kobayashi, Kaytianna McMillan and Taylor Ricci, who posted a 4.0 grade point average in her first year of college. In addition, freshman Silvia Colussi-Pelaez earned the award with a 4.0 GPA while she competed at the University of Florida. Student-athletes must have maintained a 3.50 GPA for the entire 2013-14 school year to receive Scholastic All-American status. It is the third award for Keeker, who is studying human development and family sciences, and Ohlrich, who is a mechanical engineering major, while Wright, a biology major, earned her second award.
