Junior guard Gary Payton II broke the 20-point mark for the fourth time this season but Oregon State’s three-game winning streak ended on Thursday with a 73-55 setback at Arizona State. Payton had 23 points for the Beavers (14-6, 5-3 Pac-12), who surrendered a season-high in points allowed. The Sun Devils (11-10, 3-5) improved to 11-2 at Wells Fargo Arena and earned a split of the season series. The Beavers conclude their Southwestern road trip at 7 p.m. Friday against No. 7 Arizona at Tucson. The game will be televised by Pac-12 Networks.

Gabe York scored 16 points, Brandon Ashley added 13 and No. 6 Arizona put on an offensive show to dismantle Oregon 90-56 Wednesday night. After routing Oregon earlier this season behind its defense, Arizona (19-2, 7-1 Pac-12) ran away from the Ducks a second time with one of its best offensive performances of the season. Elgin Cook had 16 points and Joseph Young added 12 for Oregon (14-7, 4-4). The Ducks play at Arizona State Friday.
