Angling Complaint
An 84-year old Lakeside male told a Fish & Game Officer for the Oregon State Police that he was “unaware ocean was closed to all coho,” when he was contacted Aug. 20 with coho salmon. According to an OSP report, Jack B. Bowron was warned “for take fish closed season. Fish was donated to South Coast Gospel Mission in Coos Bay.”

Ocean or River Catch
A 56-year old Florence male was allowed to keep a coho salmon after being contacted by a Fish & Game Officer for the Oregon State Police Aug. 20. According to an OSP report, “an ODFW creek checker had seized a coho salmon which was reported as being ocean caught. Interview of suspect revealed fish was actually river caught. Confusion of angler on what ocean/river line was. Angler warned for improper tag validation. He was educated on what separates ocean from river and on the proper codes that are to be used on the angling tags.” Milton Patrick Nagrone Jr. was warned.

Illegal Cellphone use
A 31-year old Coos Bay female had her silver/aluminum Ford Win towed/impounded Aug. 22, 7:17 a.m., after she was stopped for illegally using a cell phone while operating a vehicle. According to an OSP report, Lanita Raquel Meyer admitted to driving uninsured. She was cited for Driving Uninsured and Operate Motor Vehicle while Using Mobile Communication Device (Cell Phone).

Meth Arrest
A 35-year old North Bend male, “contacted as a suspect in a reported criminal trespass complaint that had just occurred at Wal-Mart,” was arrested on a drug charge. According to an OSP report, Jerry Allen Loreman had a syringe and methamphetamine in a backpack in his possession. He was arrested for PCS Meth and his probation officer placed a Detainer on him. He was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

Angling complaint
Possible charges for illegally possessing a coho salmon out of season are pending for two males following a District Attorney review. According to an OSP report, “an ODFW Fishchecker contacted two anglers returning from an ocean salmon angling trip. The subjects had retained three Wild Coho Salmon that they had misidentified as Chinook Salmon.” Contacted were 56-year old John T. Fallan, Huntington, and 56-year old Michael A. Sterling, Bandon.

No Seatbelt
A purple/mauve Mercury Mar was towed/impounded Aug. 23, 6:05 a.m., following a traffic stop at Broadway and Newmark in North Bend for a passenger not wearing a seatbelt. According to an OSP report, 47-year old Sherri Lee Liston, Coos Bay, was cited for Driving Uninsured and No Oregon Operator’s License. Her passenger, 37-year old Melissa Ann Cardwell, Coos Bay, was cited for Fail to Properly Use Safety Belts.

Vehicle impounded
A gold Ford Win was towed/impounded Aug. 23, 7:06 a.m., at Newmark and Ocean Blvd., following a traffic stop for an equipment violation. According to an OSP report, 31-year old David William Duvan, Coos Bay, was found to be driving uninsured. He was cited for Driving Uninsured and Failure to Register Vehicle.

Vehicle impounded
A white Ford Win was towed/impounded following a traffic stop for a traffic violation at 12th & Marion in North Bend Aug. 23, 8:44 a.m. According to an OSP report, 35-year old Melissa Marie Wilkinson, Coos Bay, was cited for Driving Uninsured, Failure of Previous Violation to File and DWS Violation.

Vehicle impounded
A white Mercury Sable was towed/impounded Aug. 23, 12:19 p.m., at Virginia and Marion avenues in North Bend following a traffic stop for an expired Washington registration. According to an OSP report, 38-year old Curtis Marion Shipps, North Bend, was cited for Driving Uninsured, Failure of Previous Violator to File and No Oregon Operator’s License.

Vehicle impounded
A red Dodge was towed/impounded Aug. 23, 2:35 p.m., Oak & 16th in North Bend, following a traffic stop for an equipment violation. According to an OSP report, 38-year old William Ernest Pennington, Bandon, was cited for Driving While Suspended, Driving Uninsured and Visible Emissions.

DUII
A 60-year old Bandon was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille Aug. 23, 9:47 p.m., after he was stopped in a Mercedes-Benz SUV on Seven Devils Road following a driving complaint. According to an OSP report, “I responded to a driving complaint in which the suspect vehicle was reportedly all over the roadway and nearly causing numerous collisions. I located the driver at his residence. He was visibly intoxicated and denied having consumed alcoholic beverages since being home.” He failed a Field Sobriety Test and voluntarily took a Breath Test. Roger Dale Williams was transported to the county jail and cited for DUII and Reckless Driving. “The charge of Recklessly Endangering Another Person will be referred to the DA’s office.”

Accident
A 17-year old female “admitting consuming alcohol the prior evening but exhibited no signs of impairment” following a single-vehicle accident Aug. 24, 6:22 a.m., on Hwy. 101, milepost 244. According to an OSP report, the green Toyota 4Runner drifted onto the right shoulder after the driver fell asleep. It struck a highway marker before hitting an embankment and rolling over. The vehicle came to rest facing the bank and partially blocking the right hand lane of travel.” The driver was cited for Careless Driving.

Illegal Drugs
Possession of illegal drug charges have been referred to the Coos Co. District Attorney’s Office following a traffic stop for a “lane change violation,” Aug. 26, 5:28 p.m. According to an OSP report, the 1994 Cadillac Seville was being operated by 53-year old Mark Owen Burgess, North Bend. “An investigation with the assistance of a narcotic detection K9 revealed that the right front passenger illegally possessed heroin and methamphetamine. The driver unlawfully possessed nearly an ounce of marijuana and a few grams of processed marijuana.” The right front passenger, 30-year old Mithcel Dean Razee, North Bend, began suffering seizures while in custody. He was released to the hospital for treatment.

Possession of Meth
Casual contact with the occupants of a white Toyota Camry Aug. 26, 7:15 p.m., at Ashworth’s Market on Sherman Ave. in North Bend, led to the discovery of methamphetamines. According to an OSP report, 31-year old Joshua Daniel Felker “was on parole and consented to a search of the vehicle. The search resulted in a small amount of methamphetamine being located near his seat. I located meth inside another bag that belonged to the female passenger who foot bailed before I could make contact. The driver was cited for PCS-Meth and released from the scene.”
