Both Marshfield basketball teams are headed to the OSAA 4A Basketball Tournament in Forest Grove March 8-10. The two Pirate teams won their First Round playoff games to secure a spot in the “Final Eight.” Marshfield’s girls will open against Valley Catholic of Beaverton Thursday, March 8, 1:30 p.m., at Pacific University. Also in the upper bracket is Banks and Baker. In the lower bracket, Stayton vs. Cascade, and No. Marion takes on Hidden Valley. The boy’s opening round will be at Forest Grove HS. Marshfield will play Newport at 6:30 p.m. in the lower bracket. Mazama vs. Seaside is the other game in the lower bracket. In the upper bracket, Sisters vs. Banks and Valley Catholic vs. LaGrande. The Cowapa League, which produced champion Seaside and runners-up Valley Catholic, has three of the eight teams. No. 1 Banks, No. 5 Valley Catholic & No. 2 Seaside. All of Marshfield’s games will be broadcast on the school’s FM station, 91.3 KMHS.
