The Summit Storm won its first State Football 5A Championship Saturday over Ashland 45-28 at Hillsboro Stadium. The Storm (12-1) had lost to the Grizzlies 15-14 earlier in the season at Ashland (10-3). Cascade (12-1) won its first 4A title since 1998 with a 37-28 win over Scappoose (10-2). The Cougars beat the Indians to open the season, and closed out the 2015 campaign with a second win over Scappoose, but this time it was for the state title. Vale (11-1) repeated as the 3A champs with a 27-20 win over Santiam Christian (11-2). Heppner (13-0) beat Kennedy (10-2) for the 2A crown, 48-0, and Dufur (11-2) downed Crane (11-2) 36-32 for the 1A eight-man championship. West Linn and Jesuit will meet for the 6A crown this coming weekend.
