The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the person(s) responsible for the unlawful killing and waste of a 5×5 bull elk, discovered in a clear cut off of 7000 Road (Weyerhaeuser Permit Area) within the Tioga Unit. On Sunday, February 18, 2018, a Trooper from the Roseburg Patrol Office was contacted about the location of the bull elk. The elk appeared to have been shot and was left to waste with no meat taken. Troopers from the Roseburg Patrol Office later responded to the area and discovered evidence and injuries consistent with the bull being shot with a rifle. The bull appeared to have been dead for one to two weeks. A reward is being offered by the Oregon Hunters Association through the Turn-in-Poachers (TIP) program for any information leading to an arrest in this or any other wildlife case. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact either the TIP hotline at 1-800-452-7888, *OSP (*677) or by calling Oregon State Police Dispatch at 541-776-6111. Callers can remain anonymous.
