On Tuesday, July 24, 2018 Central Point and Grants Pass Fish and Wildlife Troopers were called to the Merlin area to investigate a deer that was discovered dead in someone’s front yard and thought it might be poached. The troopers responded and discovered two dead deer inside a fenced yard only 20 feet from someone’s house.  Both deer had bullet holes in them.  Shots were heard in the area on the evening of July 22 around 11pm.  The location was off of Grouse Creek Road in the Colonial Valley. A reward is being offered by the Oregon Hunters Association through the Turn-in-Poachers (TIP) program for any information leading to an arrest in this or any other wildlife case.
