On January 17, 2018 at approximately 10:10pm Oregon Police State troopers responded to the report of a single vehicle fatal crash on HWY 22W near milepost 5. Preliminary investigation revealed that a silver 2005 Honda CRV, operated by Lauren Beasley, age 21 from Salem, was traveling westbound on HWY 22W Honda veered off the road and struck a guard rail on the westbound lane, crossed into the eastbound lane of travel then struck a tree down a 20 foot embankment on the eastbound shoulder. Beasley suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor of the crash. The eastbound lane was closed for approximately five hours following the crash.
