The discovery of the body of a deceased male in a van parked at the South Jetty, Bastendorff Beach, is being treated as a possible homicide. Coos Co. District Attorney R. Paul Frasier says the body was discovered Saturday after the Coos Co. Dispatch Center received a report shortly after 6 p.m. The body has been identified as that of 50-year old Bryron Clark Sherritt. He had no established residence, but was believed to be locally employed. An initial examination of the body “determined the death was suspicious.” The Coos Co. Major Crime Team was activated and deployed to the scene west of Charleston. Anyone with information about Sherritt or his blue/silver Mercury Villager van is asked to contact investigators with the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office.
