A 4.2-magnitude earthquake shook the outer fault line of the two that run parallel with the Oregon Coast Friday, Nov. 30. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was located west of Coos Bay. It was one of several to hit the “Ring of Fire” that surrounds the Pacific Ocean. The Survey also reported a 7.0-magnitude in Alaska, followed by a 5.3, while down in Tonga a 5.1-magnitude was recorded just south of the Equator. A 4.7-magnitude quake was also recorded early Saturday morning, Dec. 1, west to southwest of Port Hardy, Canada, within the Cascadia Subduction Zone.
