News release CCSO.  On August 3rd, 2017 at approximately 2000 hours, Deputies were traveling north bound on Cape Arago Highway, Coos Bay, Coos County, Oregon when they recognized Joshua Rocky Martin walking north bound on Cape Arago Highway. Deputies confirmed with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center that Joshua had active warrants out for his arrest. Deputies contacted Joshua on Spaw Lane. Deputies attempted to arrest Joshua. Joshua began to resist arrest resulting in deputies using force to detain Joshua. Deputies conducted a cursory search on Joshua for weapons and escape tools. Deputies located a black .357 revolver in Joshua’s pocket. Deputies checked the revolver through the Coos County Dispatch Center and the national database. The firearm came back stolen out of the Myrtle Point Police Department. Joshua was transported to the Coos County Jail without further incident. Joshua was booked on four warrants with the following charges. Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Theft II and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, three counts of Failure to Appear in the 1st Degree. Additionally Joshua was charged with Resisting Arrest, Theft I and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Joshua’s bail was set at $190,000.
