The 10th annual Sharing the Coast Conference is coming up March 8-10 at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport.  The conference is open to everyone, and features talks, workshops, and field trips.  Lecture subjects range from marine debris and invasive species to marine mammals and seabirds. The conference kicks off with a free talk on Friday, March 8, 7 p.m., in the HMSC auditorium.  Naturalist Marty Giles will tell her audience everything there is to know about the stuff that makes up our beaches and dunes in “All About Sand.” Saturday’s full slate of activities begins at 9 a.m., and winds up with a party at the Rogue Brewery that evening.  Sunday’s schedule features a number of field trips. As in past years, Sharing the Coast is a joint effort by the CoastWatch program of the Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition and the Northwest Aquatic and Marine Educators (NAME).
