Southwestern Oregon’s men’s basketball team won their opener Friday over Red Devil Classic host Lower Columbia 90-83 in Longview, WA. Freshman Erik Johnson scored a team high 21 for the Lakers. Jake Lucero scored 16, and Cam Lucero12. Davonta Price had 11. On Saturday, Spokane beat SWOCC 105-77. The Lakers were 2-of-21 from 3-point range. Ivan Harper scored a team high 20, while Rasheed Westbrook had 15. On Sunday, SWOCC beat Yakima Valley 73-64, for fourth place. Raasheed Westbrook scored 13. Southwestern (4-1) hosts Willamette University JVs on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 5 p.m.

Southwestern Oregon’s women’s basketball team competed in the CCC Thanksgiving Invitational at Clackamas CC in Oregon City this past weekend. The Lakers opened Friday with a 108-86 win over the Pierce Raiders. Savannah Thurman scored a game high 30-points, while Sydney Smith and Tiare Sugui each had 16. On Saturday, SWOCC fell 101-76 to the Umpqua Riverhawks. Katelyn Rossback scored a team high 19-points, while Sydney Smith had 15. On Sunday, Southwestern lost to Mt. Hood 84-80. Sydney Smith had 27. SWOCC (2-3) travels to George Fox University in Newberg on Saturday, Dec. 5.
