Southwestern Oregon’s baseball team swept two games from visiting Clark College on Friday in Coos Bay.  The Lakers won the first game 6-1 and took the second 6-2 (6).  On Saturday, Clark College won 9-5 (10).  SWOCC (5-11, 8-24) next plays at Clackamas CC in Oregon City Friday & Saturday.  Southwestern’s softball team swept visiting Centralia on Sunday, 12-6 & 14-8, and then 13-5, in six innings.  The Lakers host Lane CC on Friday in Coos Bay.  Now alone in first place in the Southern Division of the NWAC, Southwestern’s record is 16-3, and 26-6 overall.  Centralia is a game back in second place.

Southwestern’s track team competed against athletes from over 20 colleges and several were 4 year programs. Most events had more than 3 heats and many had up to 8 heats. The meet was a twilight meet held at Canby High School.  According to Coach Dan Neal, Aajua Brooks Placed 2nd in the Long Jump at 17’ 7” and was 2nd in the High Jump at 5’ ½”. Presley LeBlanc ran a 13.12 in the 100 Meters for 7th place and ran a 26.90 for 4th place in the 200 and ran third leg in the 3rd place Women’s 4 X 100 Meter Relay with teammates Lex Ryan, Lexie Lofthouse and Aajua Brooks. The team ran a 51.49. Breanna Mariscal ran a 1:12 in the 400 IM hurdles for 8th place. Savannah Thurman placed 7th in Shot Put at 34’ 4” and just missed making finals in Discus with a 9th place throw of 112’ 6”. Kuda Murasoranwa placed 2nd out of 39 100 meter runners with a time of 10.98 and was 4th in the 200 running a 22.45. Murasoranwa also anchored the Men’s 4 X100 Meter Relay that placed 2nd with a time of 43.09. the other members of the 4 X 100 relay team are Drae Stark, Cole Kreutzer and Bryan Hunt. Drae Stark placed 6th in the 110 High Hurdles with a time of 15.85. Cole Kreutzer placed 6th in the Triple Jump at 42’ 00”. Lincoln Newdall placed 8th in the Shot Put with a throw of 42’ 2” and threw Discus 129’ 11” for 11th place. Cole George had a personal best in the Discus with a 127’ 7” and placed behind Newdall in 12th.
