Southwestern Oregon’s baseball team dropped a pair of NWAC games at Everett CC in Everett, WA Saturday.  Everett won 2-0 & 4-3.  On Sunday the Lakers (0-1, 2-8) were swept by Edmonds 8-0 & 12-1.  Southwestern (0-1, 2-10) plays at Columbia Basin March 25.  SWOCC’s softball team swept visiting Chemeketa CC Sunday in Coos Bay, 10-1, 7-6.  The Lakers (2-0, 12-3) next play Gray’s Harbor March 24.

Southwestern Oregon Community College’s track team had several good marks this past weekend at the Lane Preview Meet in Eugene. Although the weather started out miserable, according to head coach Dan Neal, it improved later in the day. On the women’s side Savannah Thurman was 3rd in discus with a throw of 117’ 8” and was 7th in Shot Put 32’ 11”; Presley LeBlanc placed 7th in the 100 at 13.55 and was 9th in the 200 at 27.93; Madison Rodriguez was 4th in the 400 meter run at 1:06.18; Breanna Mariscal was 4th in the 400 IM Hurdles at 1:15; Lexie Lofthouse was 5th in the Long Jump at 15’ 0”; Grace Hermann was 8th in Shot Put at 32’ 2”; Caley Trimble was 9th in the Discus at 104’ 4”.  Placers for the Laker men were:  Chris Smith was 8th in the 110 High Hurdles at 19.84; Zach Ziggler was 2nd in the 400 IM Hurdles at 1:02.52; Mike Mitchell was 8th in the Long Jump at 19’ 10”; Cole Kreutzer was 8th in the Triple Jump with a jump of 41’ 7”; Lincoln Newdall placed 4th in the Discus with a throw of 124’ 4”; Full results can be found at http://www.lanetitans.com/track-and-field/schedule-results/  The Lakers next meet will be the Prefontaine Masters Meet to be held at Southwesten’s Track facility April 8, 2017.
