Linfield Multi Events
Southwestern Oregon’s Brooks Ney won the 110 Hurdles to start the second day of the Linfield Multi Event in Mc Minnville, Or. Ney ran the 110’s in 15.54 and scored 785 points. Coach Dan Neals says he threw Discus 96′ 5″ for 452 points, and did better than expected in the Pole Vault where he vaulted 11′ 1″ for 457 points. “Not bad for his 4th time doing the event.” Ney threw 124 in the Javelin for 413 points and finished his day talking fourth place in the 1500 at 5:05 for 530 points. His total for the two day event was 5724 points. Ney’s 5724 was enough to qualify him for the NWAC Multi Event Championships in May. Ney beat unattached Paul Bentz who scored 5598 and Jason Bracken from Corban University was third at 5505. On the women’s side Helene Sink surpassed the NWAC qualifying standard of 3000 points by scoring 3385. Sink jumped 15′ 2″ in the Long Jump for 461 points. She scored 385 points in the Javelin with a throw of 82′ 6″ and ran a 2:47 in the 800 for 495 points.
