Southwestern Oregon’s softball team opened the 2015 NWAC tournament at Delta Park in Portland Friday with two wins. The Lakers beat Treasure Valley CC in the opener, 1-0, followed by a 5-3 win over Mt. Hood CC. On Saturday, SWOCC lost in nine-inning, 1-0 to Spokane CC. That threw the Lakers into the “One-Loss” bracket where Southwestern bettered Columbia Basin 7-2 to set up a loser out game with Mt. Hood CC Sunday morning. However, rain trumped the schedule and the Sunday games were moved to Monday. SWOCC’s baseball team lost to Spokane CC 10-2 on Friday, but the Lakers came back on Saturday and handed Spokane CC a 4-2 loss in a crossover tournament at Tacoma, WA Saturday. On Sunday, Southwestern fell to Tacoma 7-1. The Lakers (14-10, 19-26) did qualify for the NWAC playoffs after finishing third in the South Region.
