Southwestern Oregon’s Track team came away from this year’s NWAC Championships with 6 All-American awards and a 4th place finish in the Men’s team results. According to coach Dan Neal, Kuda Murasiranwa was the lone Champion winning the 100 Meters at 10.83 and teammate Bryan Hunt was 3rd at 10.93 and also received All-American status. Lincoln Newdall started the Lakers off on a good note by becoming the first athlete to achieve the All-American status Monday by placing 3rd in Men’s Discus with a throw of 141’ 7”. Murasiranwa placed 3rd in the 200 meter final running a 21.88 for his second All-American award. On the Women’s side AauJa Brooks was a Double All American placing 2nd in the Long Jump at 17’ 11” and 3rd in the High Jump at 5’ 4”. The Lakers had several other good performances including Cole Kreutzer who placed 4th in the Triple Jump with a leap of 44’ 11 ¾”. Kreutzer was also the third leg of the 4th place Men’s 4 X 100 that just missed being All American. The other members of the team where Brian Hunt, Drae Stark and Kuda Murasiranwa. The team ran 42.22. Several Lady Laker’s had outstanding performances. Grace Herman threw 122’ 11” for 6th place in the Javelin and teammate Caley Trimble had a 15 foot PR throwing 121’ 0” for 7th in the event. Savannah Thurman placed 6th in the Discus with a 112’8” effort and Caley Trimble was 9th at 103’ 10”. Alexa Ryan placed 8th in Long Jump at 16’ 5” and 7th in the Triple Jump with a 35’ 1” jump. Presley LeBlanc was 5th in the3 200 at 26.52 and 6th in the 100 at 13.04. Alex Lofthouse was 8th in both the 100 and 200 with times of 13.30 and 27.25. The Women’s 4 X 100 Relay team of Lexie Ryan, Aauja Brooks, Alex Lofthouse and Presley LeBlanc placed 5th at 49.69. The Men’s team placed 4th with 50 Points and the Women’s team was 6th with 42 points. This is the best the Men’s team has done in several years.
