Deputies responded to South Umpqua High School on Thursday, April 19, 2018, for a report of vandalism in a girl’s bathroom. The vandalism was non-specific graffiti on a bathroom wall that made reference to a threat against the school on Friday, April 20, 2018. Deputies responded and are conducting a criminal investigation in cooperation with the school district. Several interviews were conducted and at this time the Sheriff’s Office does not feel there is a credible threat. However, an increased law enforcement presence will be observed on the school campus on Friday.
