University of Oregon sophomore Ruthy Hebard helped USA Basketball to a silver medal finish at the FIBA U19 Women’s World Championship on Sunday, July 30. After winning their first six games, Hebard and team USA fell to Russia in the championship, 86-82. The sophomore averaged 11 points and eight rebounds in 19.1 minutes per game while shooting 55.8 percent (29-of-52) from the field. Hebard had one of the most impressive performances of the tournament, scoring 24 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in USA’s semifinals win over Japan. Hebard also had a big game against Puerto Rico in the round of 16, scoring 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting with nine rebounds.
