In conjunction with the opening of the Pacific Shores Photography Exhibition on December 12, 2014, exhibition jurors announced their selection of prize winners in this 5 state photography competition. The First Place Prize was awarded to Patricia Davidson of Coos Bay for Palouse Highlights. The Second Place was presented to David Twining of Brookings for Solitude. Bryan Coleman of Coos Bay received the Third Place award for, Coastal Comfort. The three top prize awards are $500 for first place, $350 for second place and $250 for third place. Honorable Mention awards were also announced during the opening ceremony. The four Honorable Mention recipients are: Julio Aparcana Bouby of North Bend for Lady Washington, Bryan Coleman of Coos Bay for Summer Dreamin’, Susan Dimock of Bandon for Devilish, and John R. Galvin of Sutherlin for Arising from the Past. In preparation for the Pacific Shores Photographic Competition photographers from Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, and Hawaii, were invited to submit works. All forms of photographic expression from film-based to digital capture were encouraged. The exhibition runs from December 12 through February 21, 2014 and can be seen in the museum’s Maggie Karl Gallery. Jurors for Pacific Shores include: Don Briggs, a studio photographer living in Bellingham, Washington, Burl and Julie Noggle of Brown’s Studio in North Bend, and Wood Sabold, a Bandon photographer whose works are published nationally. To complement the Pacific Shores Photography exhibition works by the jurors will be on display in the adjacent Vaughan Gallery.
