On March 19, 2017 at about 3AM, OSP Troopers responded to the report of a two vehicle head-on crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 124 (Roseburg). Preliminary investigation revealed a 2014 Ford Focus was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 at what is believed to be a high rate of speed. The Ford struck a southbound 2005 Volkswagen Jetta head-on near the 124 southbound on-ramp. Both drivers, adult males, died at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicles. OSP was assisted by Roseburg Police, Roseburg Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation. Interstate 5 was reduced to one southbound of travel until 6AM. The names of the drivers will be released once the next of kin notifications have been made.
