CCSO news release.  Office dispatch center received a call regarding an assault which had occurred in the Lakeside Area. Deputies responded and conducted an investigation. During the course of the investigation it was determined Maranda Hildreth, 35 years old of Lakeside, had struck the victim one time in the face. The victim sustained injuries to her nose and mouth and a lower tooth was knocked loose. Deputies responded to Maranda’s address located at 175 N. 14th Street, Lakeside, Coos Bay, Coos County, Oregon. Deputies attempted to contact her at the residence a male subject answered through the door and refused to speak any further when he learned it was it was law enforcement. Deputies applied for a telephonic search warrant and upon it being granted they entered the home. Maranda was not at that location however her boyfriend 38-year old Jesse Scattebo, Lakeside, was located inside. Jesse had numerous warrants for his arrest. Jesse was arrested for his warrants and Interfering with a Peace Officer. Jesse was transported to the Coos County Jail and lodged on the interfering charge, and warrants for Contempt of Court, Fail to Appear, for Unlawful cutting/transport of Minor Forest Product. Maranda was located at a different location in Lakeside and transported to the Coos County Jail. Jesse’s bail was set at $35500.00. Maranda’s bail was set at $10000.00. Both were released on their own recognizance.

Menacing
CCSO news release.  On January 12, 2018, at about 1:21 pm, deputies were dispatched to the 95000 black of Mattson LN in Coos Bay for a verbal dispute. Deputies arrived and contacted all the parties involved. Deputies determined there was no crime committed and the issue was civil in nature. eputies cleared the scene. About 4 minutes later, there was a 911 call from the residence stating someone had pointed and fired a gun at someone. Deputies returned to the residence and contacted Jesse Ashcraft. Jesse told deputies after they left, Fred Shelton, the property owner, pointed a rifle at him and fired it but did not strike him. Deputies went to contact Fred, who was on the front porch. Deputies observed a rifle inside the front door. Deputies ordered Fred to stay where he was and show his hands. Fred did not comply with these commands and fled back into the residence. Deputies followed and after a brief struggle, were able to detain Fred. Deputies learned the rifle was actually a BB gun. Other witnesses on scene corroborated Jesse’s story. Fred Shelton, 58 years old of Coos Bay, was arrested for the above listed charges and taken to the Coos County Jail. Fred was booked and lodged on $45,000.00 bail.

Mail Theft
CCSO news release.  On 01/12/2018 at approximately 12:55 pm, Coos County Deputies responded to the report of mail theft on Flanagan Road, Coos Bay, OR. The Coos County Dispatch Center had received a call regarding a suspicious male and female who were hanging around the Bunkerhill water tower and had some mail from a residence in the area. The reporting party informed Deputies that the male and female departed the area down Flanagan and were last seen in front of Fred Meyer in Coos Bay. Deputies made contact with 32-year old Adam Johnston, Coos Bay, in the back of the Fred Meyer parking lot. Adam consented to a search of his person and Deputies found 3 mail items on his person that did not belong to him. Adam was taken into custody for Mail Theft and Probation Violation. Adam was transported to Coos County Jail where he was booked. He was later released on cite.
