Marine deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office have partnered with the Roseburg Bi-Mart to hold a free boat safety inspection event. Deputies will hold the FREE clinic in the parking lot of the Roseburg Bi-Mart (1381 NW Garden Valley Blvd, Roseburg) on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. The inspection process will include checking for: Approved Life Jackets; Working Fire Extinguishers; Approved Type IV Flotation Devices; Approved Sound Producing Devices; Working Engine Blower Fans; Assist on Proper Placement of Oregon Registration Numbers and Stickers. If your boat passes inspection, a 2018 inspection sticker will be issued, which can be displayed on your boat for the approaching 2018 boating season. This will be the first year the Sheriff’s Office has hosted this event. “This is a great opportunity for boaters to speak with Marine Deputies to ask questions, have their boat formally inspected and receive the 2018 inspection sticker,” said Sgt. Brad O’Dell, public information officer. “We are excited about this community outreach event and the partnership with Bi-Mart to make this event possible. This is a great way to kick off the boating season,” O’Dell said.
