Coos Art Museum Celebrates its 50th Anniversary Sept. 10 with a “Million Dollar Ball” event. This exciting evening will begin at 7 pm and include music, dancing, libations and fun. The underlying concept of the “Million Dollar Ball” event is to build a foundation for the Museum’s next 50 years through public awareness and long term fundraising to stabilize museum operations. Proceeds from this fundraising event go to grow the Museum’s endowment and support its on-going operations. Our long-range goal is to add a “Million Dollars” to the Museum’s current endowment fund. The event will be catered by Black Market Gourmet who will provide substantial and sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and Rhoda’s Desserts who will provide elegant and sweet offerings. Music for the celebration will be provided by the duo of Tim and Michelle Wallace who mix musical genres with an emphasis on ballroom dance and comfortable ambience. Shamus Hanlin will also present a special solo vocal performance. To enliven the evening the USA Dance Club will be performing exhibition dances and encouraging the attendees to exercise their ballroom dance skills. There will no-host bars with the finest of libations provided by Stillwagon Distillery. Reservations can be obtained by contacting the museum R.S.V.P. by September 2. The tickets for the event are $100 and can be purchased at Coos Art Museum, 235 Anderson Avenue, Coos Bay, by telephone (541) 267-3901; credit cards are accepted.
