The grandson of Marshfield High School Hall of Fame coach John Johnson will not take over as head football coach at Cottage Grove HS after all.  Jordan Johnson, assisted the Lions the last three seasons along with his father and MHS graduate Marty Johnson, under head coach Gary Roberts.  Roberts decided to retire from CGHS this year and actually accepted an administration position at his alma mater Marshfield in Coos Bay.  That set the stage for the younger Johnson to become football coach following a search, application and interview process.  However, Mike Ingram, CGHS principal and an assistant FB coach accepted the principal job at Sheldon HS in Eugene and Johnson decided to follow him back to his alma mater and join the FB staff of Josh Line the former MHS head coach.  That left a void at CGHS that was recently filled by Chad Smith who was an assistant at Sheldon when Marty Johnson was head coach.  Smith most recently served as Siuslaw HS football coach and the Vikings’ varsity basketball coach.
