On November 4, 2016, the Oregon State Police Klamath Falls Area Command received a report of a human skull that had been found in a wooded area on private property, just a short distance west of the city of Klamath Falls. Multiple OSP units responded and verified the skull was indeed human. Additionally, several teeth attached to the skull had fillings, and it appeared there was a noticeable membrane on the forehead; leading investigators to believe the skull was not an ancient artifact. After finding the skull, investigators learned that on August 28, 2014, a black 2015 Dodge Challenger, belonging to a missing person, Brett T FARMER, was found abandoned in the area. Klamath County Sheriff’s Deputies responded at that time, and learned Farmer had been reported to have been missing since August 23, 2014. It was reported when FARMER was last seen he was carrying a Ruger.22 caliber pistol and a particular type of knife. On November 6, 2016, Klamath and Jackson County Search and Rescue teams were activated to search the area where the skull and vehicle were located, in hopes of finding more remains. OSP Detectives and the OSP Crime lab were assigned to identify and investigate possible pieces of evidence searchers found. Searchers found the location where the subject most likely died; an area containing multiple human remains and clothing. Additionally, a Ruger .22 caliber pistol, knife, and two Dodge vehicle key fobs were located near the remains. At the time of this press release, investigators are still awaiting the official autopsy results positively identifying the deceased, as well as the manner and cause of death.
