News release Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office.  On 10/017/2016 at about 1448 Hours, Deputies from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office observed a stolen 1997 Subaru Legacy near Cape Arago Highway and Windy Lane, in the Barview area.  Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle but the male driver fled in the vehicle at a high rate of speed. Deputies pursued the vehicle through the Barview area to the area of Shell Lane where it drove into the driveway of a residence and the male driver and female passenger then left the vehicle and fled on foot. Witnesses observed the occupants flee into a nearby house. The vehicle had been reported stolen to the North Bend Police Department by Ms. Hall on 10-14-2016. Officers from the Oregon State Police, Coquille Tribal Police and Coos Bay Police assisted by setting a perimeter around the area and eventually the male and female were located.  The 2 individuals were identified as Ricky Potter, 30 years of age from Coos Bay and his girlfriend, 26 year old Elisabeth Reed, also of Coos Bay.  Both were located inside the residence and were arrested and taken to the Coos County Jail to be booked. Ricky Potter was booked on the following charges: Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Possession of stolen vehicle, Elude in vehicle, Elude on foot, Recklessly endangering another person, and Probation Violation. Elisabeth Reed was booked on the following charges: Unlawful Entry to a Motor Vehicle, and Elude on foot. Ricky Potter was also cited for the following motor vehicle infractions: Fail to drive on right, Fail to Obey a Police Officer, Fail to signal Turn (x3), Fail to Maintain Lane (x2), Fail to Obey Traffic Control Device (x4), Violation of the basic Rule, Driving While Suspended Violation, Careless Driving, Driving Uninsured, Fail to Yield to an emergency Vehicle, Passing in a no passing zone, Unsafe Passing on the Left.
