Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into this Thursday Afternoon’s fatal crash on highway 46 near milepost 5, (Caves Highway) just East of Cave Junction in Josephine County. Upon arriving on scene, emergency crews found two vehicles had collided and one had rolled with the driver ejected. Preliminary information indicates on November 18th, 2015, at 3:46 p.m., a 1997 International UPS truck, operated by Robert Eric TAURIAINEN, age 54, from Grants Pass, was traveling eastbound preparing to turn left onto Barnes Way, when a 2005 Ford F150 pickup, operated by Jacob Jeffery SHEPHERD, age 31, from Grants Pass, attempted to pass on the left, hitting the front of the UPS truck. This caused the Ford to spin and roll several times, ejecting the driver and only occupant.
