On November 19th 2015, at about 11:20 p.m., OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a motor vehicle crash on Highway 213 at milepost 18 (south of South Dart Road). Preliminary information indicates that Gerald Wayne MARTIN, age 65, of Silverton, was operating a 1995 Nissan pickup and traveling southbound on Highway 213 near milepost 18. For unknown reasons, the Nissan veered off the roadway, traveled back on, overturned and ejected MARTIN from the vehicle. The Nissan came to rest on the northbound shoulder. MARTIN was pronounced deceased at the scene and was not wearing a safety belt. Alcohol may have been a contributing factor and the highway was closed for over 3 hours for the investigation to be conducted (there was an established detour in place).
