Disaster responders with the American Red Cross Cascades Region responded at approximately 11:55 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 in the 100 block of N. 8th Street in Lakeside, Coos County, Ore. The single-family fire affected three adults, three children and one pet. The Red Cross provided resources to help address the immediate basic needs of those affected such as temporary housing, food, clothing, comfort kits, information about recovery services, and health and mental health services. The Red Cross in Oregon and Southwest Washington (the Cascades Region) helps an average of three families affected by disasters, like home fires, every day.
