Firefighters were called to a brush fire just south of China Flats Campground yesterday afternoon around 2:00 p.m. Firefighters from CFPA and US Forest Service responded to the fire and quickly extinguished it at a ¼ acre with help from a Merchant & Reed Gravel water truck that also noticed the fire and responded to assist. The fire was caused by a modified firework being set off along the road next to a 25 year old timber stand. CFPA reminds the public that “Public Use Restrictions” are in place in order to prevent these kinds of fires from starting, so please do your part to help prevent wildfires.
