Marshfield swept visiting Siuslaw in a Far West League softball doubleheader Friday to take the first week lead in the five-week league season.  The Lady Pirates won the opener 13-3 (5) and took the second game 4-1 to go 3-0.  Brookings-Harbor kept pace with a sweep in Winston over Douglas 11-1 (6) and 17-9.  Defending champion South Umpqua (2-1) is one game back after splitting at North Bend (1-2) with the Bulldogs.  The Lancers won the opener 13-2, but lost the second game 5-2.  On Tuesday, North Bend is scheduled to play at Marshfield, Brookings-Harbor travels to Siuslaw (0-3) and Douglas (0-3) plays at South Umpqua.

Marshfield and Siuslaw split their Far West League baseball doubleheader in Florence Saturday.  The Vikings won the opener 4-2, but the Pirates took the second game 10-2 for their first league win.  On Friday, North Bend won at South Umpqua 4-3, but the second game was called due to darkness.  Douglas won at Brookings-Harbor 4-2, but lost the second game to the Bruins 8-3.  On Tuesday, Marshfield (1-2) plays at North Bend (2-0), Siuslaw (2-1) goes to Brookings-Harbor (2-1), and South Umpqua (0-2) plays at Douglas (1-2).  All 5 p.m. games.
