The first Farwest League wrestling dual match showdown went Marshfield’s way Thursday at Douglas in Winston. The Pirates went 5-0 against their 4A league opponents. Douglas was second, followed by Siuslaw, So. Umpqua and North Bend. Travis Wittlake Jr. went 5-0 at 170 lbs., Frankie Harlow was also unbeaten at 120, as was Willy Jantzer (145-152), Will Forbes (152, 160), Tyler Post (220), Patrick Hernandez (HW), and Alvaro Guillen (HW). The Pirates beat Douglas 41-21, Brookings-Harbor 54-18, North Bend 48-9, Siuslaw 38-27, and So. Umpqua 48-9. North Bend beat Brookings-Harbor 36-24. Marshfield has a three-way meet with Sweet Home and Crook Co. in Prineville Friday, and then compete in the Oregon Classic at Redmond on Saturday. North Bend will travel to the Nick Lutz Invite at Siuslaw in Florence Saturday.
