News release CBFD.  On November 19th at 1:51 p.m., Coos Bay Fire Department responded to 92550 Cascade Lane in the Libby District on a report of a vacant house on fire.  First arriving units found a single-story home with light smoke showing from the eaves and the front door.  Suppression personnel found an active fire within the master bedroom of the home.  Firefighters completed a search of the building to ensure there were no occupants.  The fire was extinguished within six minutes of arrival. The fire originated in the master bedroom, and it was confined to that room. An investigation into the cause of the fire has been conducted by the Coos Bay Fire Department and the Southwestern Fire Investigations Team, and it remains active at this time. The home was not occupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries occurred. The Coos Bay Fire Department estimates the fire damage to the home to be $12,000.00.  It is unknown if the owner had insurance on the building.  The Coos Bay Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Coos County Sheriff’s Office and Office of State Fire Marshal.
