Coos County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased in November to 5.6 percent from a revised 5.7 percent in October.  The rate is below the November 2016 rate (6.1%). Oregon’s seasonally adjusted November unemployment rate was 4.2 percent; the national rate was 4.1 percent. The county’s total nonfarm payroll employment increased over the month by 40 jobs. Industries reporting gains included local government education (+210). Industries reporting over-the-month employment losses included leisure and hospitality (-100) and construction (-50). Coos County gained 210 jobs over the year ending in November for a 0.9 percent annual growth rate.  Curry County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased in November to 6.4 percent from a revised 6.5 percent in October. The rate is below the November 2016 rate (6.7%). Curry County’s total nonfarm payroll declined over the month by 180 jobs. Industries reporting losses included leisure and hospitality (-130) and construction (-30). Curry County shed 130 jobs over the year ending in November, dropping 2.0 percent.
