Laverne County Park

This park is 350 acres located on the North Fork of the Coquille River, 61217 Fairview Road, Coquille, OR 97423. It is approximately fifteen miles north of Coquille (Highway 42) on the Coquille-Fairview Road, and five miles north of the community of Fairview. The frequent 80 to 90 degree temperatures make swimming, picnicking, fishing, camping or playing a pleasure. The Coquille River is easily accessible. A neighborhood store is nearby. The park is open year ’round for RV or tent camping. Campsites are available for online reservations at www.co.coos.or.us. The campground consists of 76 campsites situated among old growth fir trees along the North Fork of the Coquille River. The campground has 46 RV sites with water and electrical and 30 non-hookup sites just right for tent campers. Handicap accessible restrooms with flush toilets, coin-operated, warm showers and a sanitary disposal station are conveniently located to the camping areas.

The spacious day use area has 4 covered picnic shelters with kitchens, softball fields, horseshoe pits, large BBQ grill, and a developed swimming area. The fort-like play area, with swings, slides, teeter-totters, merry-go-round and bouncing animals keep young and old occupied for hours. Hiking trails for the beginner and the experienced are nearby, and provide a wonderful opportunity to experience the natural beauty of this area.

The North Fork of the Coquille River is easily accessible from the park for angling opportunities. Many people enjoy fishing for trout, winter steelhead, and crayfish.

West LaVerne Park Day Use — Area “A” is located West of LaVerne Park on the North Fork on the Coquille River; fifteen miles North of Coquille (Highway 42) on the Coquille-Fairview Road, and five miles North of Fairview.

West LaVerne Day Use caters to reserved picnics.  Large groups of 300+ people have enjoyed this beautiful area.  There is a large 20′ x 32′ covered picnic shelter and restroom building. The shelter is equipped with a kitchen sink, cold running water, charcoal grills (must provide own charcoal), electric four-burner stovetop, electric outlets, and picnic tables.  Adjacent parking for approximately seventy-five cars, additional picnic tables, fireplaces, horseshoe pits, one softball field, a playground area and a handicapped accessible restroom with flush toilets are also available.

This area may also be reserved for Large Group Camping with primitive sites.  Campers in this area have access to the showers in LaVerne Park main campground only.

West LaVerne Large Group Camping — Area “B” is nestled in the midst of a large Douglas Fir and Oregon Myrtlewood Tree grove. This section of the park is located adjacent to the West LaVerne Day Use area, and is available by reservation only. The campsites are a stone’s throw away from the scenic Coquille River, where you may fish for trout or crawdads, swim and enjoy its’ abundant wildlife. The campground consists of 22 RV campsites with electrical and water hookups.  Facilities include a handicapped accessible cement block restroom with flush toilets and warm showers, a sanitary disposal station, covered gazebo with a four burner stove top, BBQ grill, running water and electricity.

The park also contains a softball field, playground, horseshoe pits, volleyball area, and an overflow area for non-hook up camping.
