Coos Bay Public Library invites the community to “Lunch, Listen & Learn” during the week of July 21-25.  In collaboration with the Oregon Coast Music Festival, the library is hosting a series of brown bag lunch programs.  The programs are scheduled from noon – 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, to coincide with the following day’s performance.  Oregon Coast Music Festival’s Associate Director Jason Klein will present lectures on some of this year’s selections and an insider’s look at how the orchestra functions.  The featured talks are: Monday, July 21st: “If Music Be the Food of Love…” – Shakespearean Inspiration; Wednesday, July 23rd: “Murder, Mayhem & Mystery” – A glimpse into the conductor’s craft; Friday, July 25th: “From Russia with Love” – Famous Russian Composers.  The noon programs will be of interest to both festival ticketholders and non-ticketholders who would like to learn a more about classical music and the orchestra.  Dr. Klein is currently the Music Director of the Saratoga Symphony.  His entertaining introductions to the music add both historical and human dimensions that delight both novice and knowledgeable audience members.  Dr. Klein received an A.B. in Theory and Composition from Washington University in St. Louis and a Masters and Doctorate in Orchestral Conducting from Stanford University.  In addition to the Saratoga Symphony, Dr. Klein has been Music Director of the Youth Orchestra of Southern Alameda County and Associate Conductor of the Oregon Coast Music Festival.  This program is sponsored by the Coos Bay Public Library Foundation.  It is free and open to the public.  For more information on the programs, please contact the library at 541.269.1101 or bay.cooslibraries.org.
