Report from MHS 8th Grade Track Coach Steve Delgado on the middle school’s district track meet at MHS.  HS did a fantastic job hosting the 11 FWL MS teams at Prefontaine Track. Hats off to Coach Scriven and his coaching staff for putting on another quality meet! Conditions were beautiful for participants and spectators. Marshfield athletes racked up 43 PRs! Our individual District Champions included 8B Matthew Allen in Shot Put; 8B Kaden Weatherston in  Long Jump; 8G Amanda Cross in the 100m & Long Jump, 8G Aryana Mill in High Jump, both the 7th and 8th grade Girls 4×400 teams; 7G Sophia Miley and Sienna Mahaffey went 1-2 in the 1500; and 7G Tori Cox in Discus, where she was joined by Abby Warrick and Zoe  Thomas as they swept the field for first, second, and third. Our 8th grade girls finished 2nd behind North Bend in the team points race. A testament of what a small but determined team can do. Our 7th Grade girls edged North Bend 109 to 102 in the team points race for the #1 7th Grade Girls team! As great as all the performances were to me as a coach nothing was sweeter than ending the meet with the high schoolers surrounding the middle school athletes in the center of the field singing “Loyalty”. Seems like only yesterday those high schoolers were competing in their own District middle school meet. We wish them the best as they prepare for District this week and the State meet ahead.
