The North Bend High School Booster Club meets Tuesday, May 17, a day earlier this week. Same location, High School’s Hall of Champions at noon.

Marshfield baseball landed senior First Baseman Ben Martin on the post season Far West League All League team. Martin also pitched and caught for the Pirates this year. He plans on attending the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA, to play football. Named to the FWL Honorable Mention team were: DJ Herrington (catcher), Braden Denton (infield), James Kelland (infield) and Mason Jussila (pitcher/infield).

Second place Marshfield had three players named to the Far West League’s All League First Team in voting by the league’s coaches. Junior pitcher Mackenzie Johnson, senior catcher Khalani Hoyer and senior outfielder Sidney Baarstad were named First Team, while senior First Base Carli Clarkson, junior Third Base Katie Maine, and senior shortstop Savannah Williams were named to the Second Team.

Marshfield’s boys golf team is tied for fourth place after the first day of the OSAA 4A State Golf Championships at Emerald Valley Golf Course near Creswell Monday. Valley Catholic leads with a +62, followed by Klamath Union +66, Crook Co. +67, Marshfield +71, Scappoose and Baker are tied for fifth with a +76. Mazama’s Bryce Workman leads the individuals with a 71. He’s followed by Mayson Tibbs of Crook Co. (72), and Craig Ronne Klamath Union (75). Marshfield’s Kasey Banks is in seventh place (82), Jack Larson (88), Jake Gearhyardt (91), Dhiren Charitar (98) & Justin Banks (100). Marshfield’s Jane Suppes is in 8th place (88) at the girl’s state championship, Eagle Ridge near Redmond.

Marshfield’s softball team tuned up for the upcoming 4A playoffs with a 7-0 win over visiting Central Linn Monday night at Coos Head Field in Coos Bay. Junior pitcher Mackenzie Johnson struck out 11 as the Pirates improve to 17-7 and will host Junction City Thursday, 4 p.m., in a play-in game also at Coos Head Field.
