The City of Coos Bay authorized Benny Hempstead Excavating, Inc. to perform a sanitary sewer line replacement project on South 10th Street between Anderson Avenue and Elrod Avenue. Construction commenced on Monday, July 18th. Typically, normal working hours for construction in a residential area are from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm; however, today the crew has experienced difficulties and must work past 6:00 p.m. The crew will work no later than 8:30 pm. For safety reasons, the southbound lane on South 10th Street between Anderson Avenue and Elrod Avenue will remain closed until that time. Southbound traffic will be detoured around the project site and the contractor will work with local residents for access to driveways. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to please exercise caution within the construction zone and detour area.
