Oregon Coast Music Association’s Festival Celebrates 40 years with first concert Sunday, June 10th . The dynamic musical partnership of violinist Steven Moeckel and pianist Paula Fan will provide a benefit performance at Hales Performing Arts Center on June 10th, at 3 pm at Southwestern Oregon Community College.  Duo Amabile, the violin-piano duo of Moeckel and Fan has been delighting audiences since 2003 with performances in Europe, Latin America and North America. The focus of the benefit is to share with the community the beauty of violin and piano performance, with attention directed toward emerging students of musical performance and musicology. The duo will make themselves available to meet with interested students, and the ticket cost is structured to promote family and student participation.  The OCMA is providing complimentary tickets for students who help with the performance details, and the association has a family package of $75. Moeckel will return to the area in July to serve as concertmaster for the OCMA Festival Orchestra the week of July 21-28. The tickets are on sale through the OCMA website https://www.oregoncoastmusic.org/buy-tickets/ and at the front desk of the Coos Art Museum.  OCMA board member and Southwestern Oregon Community College Music Department Chair, Ida Jo Gates has arranged for visits to regional schools to promote the festival and opportunities for student engagement.
