The Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal, through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, activated its Agency Operations Center Saturday, July 28 and deployed one strike team and one task force with equipment and personnel to assist with the wildfires in California. The Oregon State Fire Marshal’s strike team and task force are actively engaged in firefighting operations on a 24-hour work cycle protecting homes and other structures. Oregon resources on the fire include 10 engines, and 39 firefighters from Multnomah and Columbia counties.   The teams are engaged in fire operations, Multnomah firefighters are assigned to the River Fire, and Columbia firefighters are assigned to the Ranch Fire.  An additional strike team from Marion County is en route today, which will include an additional 5 Fire Engines and 22 firefighters. Oregon State Fire Marshal’s agency rep Assistant Chief Deputy Claire McGrew reports that Oregon resources are performing well and morale is high.
