Pre Run
Marshfield grad Jared Basset won the 35th Annual Prefontaine Run in Coos Bay Saturday under bright sunny skies in 32:12. Bassett, who ran for the University of Portland collegiately, wasn’t pushed over the 10K course and won by nearly three-minutes. Benjamin Rodriguez of Roseburg was second in 34:54. The first female finisher was 14-year old Sailor Hutton (22nd overall). The Bandon HS freshman won in 40:50. Janet Stamper Holland (26th overall) was next in 41:33.
Pre Run HS
Roseburg won the boys’ high school portion of Pre Run Saturday in Coos Bay. The Indians tallied 46-points to Arcata’s 52. North Bend was third with 105. Arcata won the girls’ side with 33-points. St. Mary’s was second with 62, and Roseburg third at 84. North Bend was seventh (156) and Marshfield came in 8th (198). Twelve teams ran the 5K race. Individually, Shane Crofoot of Hidden Valley won in 15:58, while North Bend’s Nick Hossley was the first local runner to cross the finish line at Pete Susick Stadium in sixth place (17:16). He was followed by the Bulldogs’ Michael Brown in seventh (17:22).
