Marshfield’s softball team erupted for 14 runs in the bottom of the second inning Tuesday in a 4A District 4 opener en route to an 18-8 (5) win for the Lady Pirates over visiting Cottage Grove. Marshfield (1-0, 4-5) has a doubleheader at Marist Catholic (1-0, 8-1) Friday in Eugene. North Bend’s home 5A Midwestern League game with Springfield was postponed due to the weather.
