CFPA release – A fire in the Seven Devils area broke out Tuesday night, May 29, due to high winds and being unattended. The Seven Devils fire was reported shortly before 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night. Firefighters from CFPA and Bandon RFD responded to the area to find a wind driven fire spreading through dense brush towards two homes. Firefighters worked through the night to contain the fire with hoselays and fire trails. The fire was estimated to be just under two acres. Firefighters were back out on the fire today to mop up any heat still left and strengthen control lines. This fire is a prime example of why it is important not to burn or have a campfire in high wind conditions. CFPA wants to reinforce to the public and landowners that while it is still spring time, high winds and lack of rain will make forest fuels available for fire any time of year. Please use extreme caution any time you are having an open fire of any kind. The current sunny, windy conditions will be here on the coast for at least another week.
