Benton County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested Richard Leroy Knudson, 39, of Philomath, at approximately 7:00p.m., March 5, 2018. Knudson was charged with twenty-four counts of Sex Abuse I, twenty-four counts of Sex Abuse II, twenty-four counts of Unlawful Sexual Penetration II, and Public Indecency. On March 4, 2018, a female family member disclosed to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office she had been sexually assaulted by Richard Knudson over the past few months. Knudson was interviewed by detectives at the Sheriff’s Office yesterday morning and was taken into custody after the interview. Knudson was booked and lodged into the Benton County Jail. We are notifying the public of the arrest, due to Knudson being involved in youth activities in the Philomath and surrounding areas.
