Industries reporting losses included private education and health services (-20) and professional and business services (-20). Coos County had an estimated loss of 40 jobs over the year ending in April. The professional and business services industry led the county with a gain of180 jobs, a 9.0 percent annual growth rate. Leisure and hospitality also reported over-the-year job gains (+90).Over-the-year losses were reported in private education and health services (-150) and retail trade (-80). Total government employment was flat over the year with a gain of 40 jobs in state government offset by losses in federal government (-10) and Indian Tribal local government (-30).Curry County total nonfarm payroll employment increased over the month by 60 jobs. Job gains were reported in leisure and hospitality (+60); health care and social assistance (+10);financial activities (+10); and construction (+10). Other services employment shed 10 jobs over the month. Curry County gained 60 jobs over the year ending in April, resulting in a 0.9percent over-the-year job gain. Private education and health services added 70 jobs over the year, and leisure and hospitality added 60 jobs during this period. Most Curry County published industries showed essentially unchanged employment over the year. Local government employment reported a decrease of 50 jobs over the year.
